TYPO3 SMTP: six lines of configuration
Forms, system notifications and backend login: TYPO3 13 and 14 send through SMTP Senpai once the smtp transport is set in the system configuration.
- Free plan, no card and no expiry
- Servers and data in the EU
- A log of every delivery
Four details, and your emails go out
They are the same for every program: you also find them, already filled in, in your customer area.
The sender must be on a domain verified in your area: otherwise the server refuses to send. For SPF, DKIM and DMARC records, use the free email DNS checker.
Three steps
Set the transport
Paste the lines into config/system/additional.php, or use Admin Tools › Settings › Configure Installation-Wide Options, Mail section (in TYPO3 14 the group is called System).
Set the sender
defaultMailFromAddress is empty by default: enter an address on a domain verified in SMTP Senpai.
Test
Admin Tools › Environment › Test Mail Setup: enter an address and send the test.
Frequently asked questions
Why does transport_smtp_encrypt stay false?
That option opens a TLS connection from the first byte, which is for port 465. On 2525 and 587 the connection is protected with STARTTLS, which TYPO3 starts automatically.
Where does the port go?
Together with the server, as relay.mailsenpai.com:2525. Without a port TYPO3 uses 25.
I cannot see the values in Configure Installation-Wide Options
That is expected if you wrote them in additional.php: values set there are not shown in the tool.
Can I use a DSN?
Yes: transport dsn and dsn smtp://USERNAME:[email protected]:2525, with the at sign of the username written as %40.
