Four details, and your emails go out
They are the same for every program: you also find them, already filled in, in your customer area.
The sender must be on a domain verified in your area: otherwise the server refuses to send. For SPF, DKIM and DMARC records, use the free email DNS checker.
Three steps
Open the settings
Stores › Settings › Configuration › Advanced › System › Mail Sending Settings: Transport SMTP, Host, Port 2525 or 587, Username, Password, Auth LOGIN, SSL TLS.
Fix the senders
In General › Store Email Addresses move every address to a domain verified in SMTP Senpai: the defaults are on example.com.
Test
Send a message from the contact form or ask for a new password on the storefront: the SMTP Senpai log shows the delivery.
Frequently asked questions
Since which version is SMTP built in?
Since 2.4.6. On earlier versions you need an SMTP extension: the details to enter are the same.
On 2.4.8 sending fails with SSL = TLS: why?
In 2.4.8 and 2.4.8-p1 that value opens a TLS connection from the first byte, which does not work on port 2525 or 587. Set SSL to None (STARTTLS starts automatically), or apply the official patch AC-14985, or update to 2.4.8-p2 or later.
Which value goes in Auth?
LOGIN or PLAIN: the relay accepts both. With NONE, on 2.4.6 and 2.4.7, Magento does not authenticate and the relay refuses to send.
Sales emails do not leave right away: is that normal?
Yes, when asynchronous sending is enabled the sales emails go out with the Magento cron.
