MAIL_MAILER=smtp MAIL_HOST=relay.mailsenpai.com MAIL_PORT=2525 MAIL_USERNAME="your-username" MAIL_PASSWORD="your-password" MAIL_FROM_ADDRESS="[email protected]" MAIL_FROM_NAME="${APP_NAME}" # October CMS 3: add MAIL_ENCRYPTION=tls
Four details, and your emails go out
They are the same for every program: you also find them, already filled in, in your customer area.
The sender must be on a domain verified in your area: otherwise the server refuses to send. For SPF, DKIM and DMARC records, use the free email DNS checker.
Three steps
Copy the details
Your username and password are in the customer area, SMTP Senpai page.
Update .env
Paste the lines: by default MAIL_MAILER is log. Or, in the admin panel: Settings › Mail › Mail Configuration, Send Method SMTP.
Test
In Mail Configuration click Send Test Message: the SMTP Senpai log shows the delivery.
Frequently asked questions
I changed .env but nothing happens
If someone saved Mail Configuration in the admin panel, those settings take precedence over the file. Update them there, or click Reset to Default.
Do I need MAIL_ENCRYPTION?
Not in October CMS 4: it is no longer read, and on port 2525 or 587 STARTTLS starts automatically. In October CMS 3 set MAIL_ENCRYPTION=tls.
Which sender should I use?
MAIL_FROM_ADDRESS must be on a domain verified in SMTP Senpai: the default one is not.
